This WWII helmet (original paint finished with cork in the paint.) This was commonly done to prevent any glare or reflection that could come from the smooth painted helmets. This package includes: solid, steel, combat helmet; (picts. 1-4) a fiberglass liner with adjustable webbing that holds the adjustable sweat band; (pict.5); a camouflage, web netting that covers the outside of the helmet (similar to the helmets you see in the movie, "Saving Private Ryan"), picts. 1-4; and the adjustable, snap style chin straps(pict. 6&7. The fiberglass liner may not be original equipment--any rotten webbing, shriveled leather sweat band, etc., has been replaced with solid, functional items. Also, the bales are solid, intact, functional, free-swinging bales. According to most helmet "experts", the main World War II identifying characteristic of this helmet is the RIM AROUND THE BOTTOM OF THE HELMET IS CONNECTED IN FRONT OF THE HELMET (at the point of the visor.) Keep in mind, the helmet is not new--60 to 68 years old; however this helmet is in EXCELLENT condition. PLEASE, if you're a picky, meticulous collector, and the rim connection in front of the helmet is not sufficient evidence that this is truly a World War II helmet, or you have an aversion to anything about the suspension not being original equipment, DO NOT bid on this helmet.
