This WWII--front seam--helmet is finished with sawdust or cork in the paint. This was commonly done to prevent any glare or reflection that could come from the smooth painted helmets. This package includes: solid, steel, combat helmet; a fiberglass liner with adjustable webbing that holds the adjustable sweat band; a camouflage, web netting that covers the outside of the helmet (similar to the helmets you see in the movie, "Saving Private Ryan"); and adjustable, snap style chin straps. See photos accompanying item: Photo 1, net webbing; photo 2, helmet without net; photo 3, inside fiberglass liner; photos 4&5, snap-style chin straps. The fiberglass liner may not be original equipment--any rotten webbing, shriveled leather sweat bands, etc., have been replaced with solid, functional items. Also, the bales are solid, intact, functional, free-swinging bales. Keep in mind, the helmet is 60 to 68 years old; so DON'T EXPECT A BRAND NEW HELMET! However this helmet is in EXCELLENT condition. According to most helmet "experts", the main World War II identifying characteristic of this helmet is the RIM AROUND THE BOTTOM OF THE HELMET IS CONNECTED IN FRONT OF THE HELMET (at the point of the visor.)
