Let me know if you want special delivery (£4.95) Thomas Hart was born on 1st August 1897 in Rotherham Yorkshire. Thomas was a Blacksmiths Stoker by trade and it is unsurprising that he became a Stoker in the Royal Navy when he was called up on the 15th March 1917.First serving as a Stoker 2nd Class at HMS Victory II the Crystal Palace Royal Naval Training Base. After training he served on H.M.S Harrier which came under H.M.S Victory X the Portsmouth accounting section base ,HMS Harrier was a Dryad class Torpedo Gunship, which prewar had spent most of her time in the Mediterainian fleet and on Fishery protection duties. Surprisingly these Torpedo Gunships where quite large ships being larger than most WW1 Destroyers . At the outbreak of WW1 she, like most of her class was converted to a Minesweeper. Thomas survived the war and left the Navy rated Stoker1st Class in January 1919.
