This is a WW2 Japanese 37X166R Type 1 APHE round with a steel case. This is for the T94 anti tank & Type 98 & 100 tank guns. The brass washed steel Japanese cases are hard to find. This one has what appears to be a zinc coating, probably as additional protection for the humid climate in the Pacific. The coating is thin on one side showing the brass wash under the zinc. The Type 1 projo is complete with the base fuze which still has the aluminum gain. The case is dated Showa 18 year 11 month or November 1943. It's interesting that the steel cases do not have the F found on nearly all Japanese army cases. Display item only that has been filled with a permanent inert substance or has otherwise been modified to prevent it's use as a weapon of any kind per ebay & BATF regulations.
