Japanese Sword by High Grade Gendai Smith “Hisatsugu” If you are looking for a healthy, stout, high grade Gendai blade, signed and dated, this is it! This is very beefy and powerful looking hand forged Gendai sword without any nicks, pits, openings, overall very healthy blade, t are just surface stains and scratches, nothing deep rust, so if you polish it, this will become a fabulous Bizen style sword. Temper Line: Gunome-choji, or wavy temper throughout the edge to the tip. This sword is stored in Shirasaya, wood mount. Though this Shirasaya is not custom made and shows some repair on handle part, but it still functions well. Cutting edge: 64.5cm Tang: 21.8cm Width: 3.2cm Thickness: 6mm Overall length with Shirasaya, wood mount: 98cm This is clearly signed and dated: (Star Stamp) Yoshu Seiunshi Hisatsugu Saku-shi 予州青雲子久次作之  Showa 20 Nen Sangatsu-hi (March, 1945)  昭和二十年三月日 His name is Imai Hisatsugu who was elder brother of famous Imai Sadashige. He studied sword making under Takahashi Yoshimune and Takahashi Sadatsugu, the first National Treasure in sword making after the war. He received many awards at New Swords Exhibitions. This sword was dated March, 1945, only 5 months before the war ended. It is very rare to find good hand forged Gendai blade made very close to the end of war.
