Here you have a British Made World War I Combat Helmet. The helmet is marked FS 150 under the brim. The helmet retains the original OD combat paint, and swivel bales. There are the remnants of the leather chinstrap and only the crown of the liner remains. The helmet is similar to the US Model 1917 with the rim in place around the circumference of the helmet with a front seam. Parts of the original leather chinstrap are affixed to the crown of the helmet. The interior retains the white lining for the helmet liner. The exterior has an OD finish with traces of a pebbled finish. There are a few small combat dents to the crown. There is rust present to the external and internal sides of the helmet. The helmet shell represents a nice find for the serious World War I AEF or British Collector. The WWI M1917 Style helmets found their way into early World War II as our country was woefully unprepared for global war on two fronts. This style helmet might have been worn at Pearl Harbor, on Navy Vessels, and in the Philippines, Guam, Java and Wake Island early in the war. The helmet shell is reasonably well preserved and would look great in either a WWI or WWII presentation, American or British. It makes for a tantalizing restoration project.
