WWII / WW2 U.S. Army, M-1917A1 Helmet, Early WWII U.S. Army Combat Helmet, Khaki Web Chin Straps, Missing Liner. Original Early WWII U.S. Army Helmet. The Helmet is a Model M-1917A1 which was introduced in 1936 and was worn by the U.S. Military until early 1942. The Helmet retains its original Factory Applied Rough Textured OD Paint which is about 70% complete. The Helmet has its original Khaki Web Chin Strap which are sewn onto the bales on the Helmet Liner metal band and are in very good condition. The Chin Straps have the first pattern brass buckle assembly. The M-1917A1 Combat Helmet is missing the leather section of its liner (see pictures). The Liner metal frame is complete. The Liner is held in place by the Screw on the top of the Helmet and a Liner could easily be replaced on the M1917A1 Helmet.
