Yamamoto Akasuke Ginbari Japanese Cloisonne Signed Vase I just purchased this vintage Japanese cloisonne vase from a local estate in Central Virginia. The vase was produced by the Yamamoto studio and bears the impressed "YAMAMOTO CLOISONNE" stamp and "CPO" diamond mark. The Akasuke (red / pigeon blood) vase is beautifully executed showing a flowering cherry tree on one face. The blossoms and foliage show rich color and fine detail against the Ginbari background. The vase measures 7 1/2" high, 3 3/4" wide and just over 2 1/2" across the top rim. The dimpled foil ground is highlighted with stylized bamboo fronds most notable on the back face. The vase is in excellent condition with no damage or restoration. T are some production dark areas to the pigeon blood enamel ground on the underside of the rim. The rims appear to be silver plate and are in excellent condition with no dents and a warm patina. The enamel on the underside of the base shows a number of fine annealing / cooling lines on the surface, but no cracks. This handsome Yamamoto vase (circa 1920 ?) would make a nice addition to any collection of vintage Japanese Ginbari cloisonne.
