The outstanding Model Icons "Police Vehicle Collection" 1/18 scale model of the Ford Escort Mk.2 1.1 Popular as used by Hampshire Police circa 1977. The Ford Escort MK2 took over the role of unit beat panda car from the MK1 and other basic cars, that were utilised by every Police force in the UK, to patrol towns and housing estates. The distinctive blue and white panda car livery was designed to ensure that the cars could be easily identified as Police cars by the public, and had been used since 1965. This particular car was based at Southsea Police station in Portsmouth and had the call sign "Panda 9". This excellent model offers a superb level of fine detailing, & features working steering, opening doors, opening boot & bonnet, revealing a detailed engine. The model, (Model Icons number 999002) measures 8 3/4" (225mm) in length, & is one of a Limited Edition of only 999 pieces produced worldwide. Please note: As you can see, this model is damaged! The wing mirror, & a pipe from the engine are off, but present. The pin from one end of the steering linkage has broken off, so the wheels pivot independently. There is no certificate, but apart from the defects described, the model is otherwise in excellent condition!
