Early coopers used cleavers such as the one offered to split white oak saplings for making wooden barrel hoops. They are seldom seen. The specimen offered shows its obvious 100 + year antiquity. The surface is pitted and the 3 cutting edges are blunt. It could be restored depending on your preference with regard to the treatment of antique tools. Length 10 in. Weight 9 lb.
