Up fo auction is a very unique antique Sokkisha Theodolite. I have not been able to find one like it on the internet or on ebay. This is a Sokkisha Model Number 3512 as embossed on the rim, along with a Sokkisha Symbol. T are no indications of this being created or imported by Lietz as the box is marked only in Japanese on the paper label, the silver serial number label (which lists 3512 and 7190 below that) and the top of the box with a brass label. I am unable to read the japanese letters but obviously Sokkisha Tokio, Japan is understandable. The piece itself is in very good condition for its age which I believe to be from the late 30's but I am not positive. Some of the brass color is worn as well as the coating of the metal but as far as the movement of all the pieces, the compass and the lenses (including crosshairs) are in great condition. T does not appear to be any missing parts on the theodolite and I was able to see quite a distance with it and focus easily. I do not know technically how these work so I will leave that up to the collector to figure out. I am not an expert but will answer any questions if you have them as long as you specify what you are looking for. I took a lot of pictures to help out with the description. This appears to be about 11 " high. The box is just a little taller. Thanks for looking.
