Offered for sale is a very attractive circa 1880 12 inch Joslin "table globe" fresh to the market from the home of a well off Massachusetts family.The globe itself is 12 inches in diameter while the total height is about 18 inches and the total width of the stand is 16 ¾ inches. The attractively turned base appears to be of mahogany.Marked "JOSLIN'S TERRESTRIAL GLOBE containing all THE LATE DISCOVERIES AND Geographical Improvements. Condition. While this table globe presents very very well it does have several flaws which will allow you the opportunity to purchase it below the market price for a mint example. The main detraction is several punctures and scuffs in the region of the South Pole. It appears that the globe may have been stuck at some point and a small tack hammer or similar implement was used to give the bottom several whacks.
