This auction is for an Edo period (1603-1868) Japanese Samurai Kabuto. I believe this version is called a Toppai (pointed) Kabuto made of 8 plates. This pointed style mimicks the helmets of foreign soldiers that the Japanese had been exposed to during this period. This is a mostly original helmet recently imported from Japan. Unfortunately someone there felt they could enhance it by applying a new coat of lacquer, Oh! how I wish they had left it alone. It retains it's original neckguard and liner. Menpo is shown to show you how fierce you can look in this Kabuto. It is NOT included in this auction. This would be a excellent addition to any Asian or samurai weapons collection. Why buy a reproduction when the real deal is available for such a low price. Thanks For Looking And Good Luck Bidding,Howard DennisI have no way of knowing exact shipping charges until item sells and is packed. Please know I only charge actual cost and will refund any overcharge.
