HENSOLDT ARTILLERIE 8x24 German Military Binoculars Artillery Field glasses Estate found - see my other listings. The logic behind identification, dating and describing these items is based on a quick online search and there position together. The conclusion is that these are of pre-WWII styling German Military binoculars. Possibly saw service in WWI German where Hensoldt eventually merged with Zeiss. They seem to be original though worn Japan Black (lacquer finish) on brass hosing and otherwise devoid of country of origin markings indicating it was either pre-1894 made for national (military) use circa 1900-1920. The left housing is marked "HENSOLDT" and right housing marked "ARTILLERIE 8 x 24" Condition: Used good, Estate item ...The eyepiece lenses are a little dirty and have fingerprints yet the view is surprisingly sharp and bright image. There is noticeable wear on the high spots of body and lens rings. The Hinge for width / eye spacing is mechanically tight though smooth loose. The right eye cups has a crack though remains functional, the right eye adjustment is very tight, and focus knob is stiff though they seem to focus OK and the set is surprisingly sharp.
