This is a lovely and unique coat, dating from, I would guess the 1930's. The outer layer is a soft black satin, could be silk. The lining is a lambskin fleece - very cosy. It is in a straight box style, typical of the 1930's, fastening with a loop and single lucite black button In very good clean condition for its age and odour free. The fleece is intact with no stains, or rips. There is a kink at the front, where a patch of the fleece has hardened slightly. The satin top coat has two small darns at the back and two tiny marks of ?green paint. I have photgraphed one , which is at the back of the neck - the other is miniscule and on the back of the sleeve. The satin fabric at the sleeves has been stitched over itself - that is how it came. Measurements; Underarm to underarm 44" Length 40" Sleeves 25" I would say it is a size 10 -14. It has a loose, drapey style. This is an original piece. I have been collecting vintage clothes for decades - I love the quality, design and tailoring of vintage items. I have owned this for the best part of thirty years and it has spent most of its time in a cupboard. I have never been quite sure of its function, that is, whether it is an 'undercoat' for added warmth or an evening overcoat. Either way it is warm, stylish, quite unique and in remarkably good condition. International buyers please contact read more
