Very rare collection of 3 watercolors and one drawing from the Romanian village on Tulnici, painted in 1918 by the German / Portuguese painter Max Römer ( Hamburg 1878 – Madeira 1960). He is listed in many art books and lexicons. He was a war painter during the World War One in France (Senne) 1915, Romania 1917/18 and Macedonia. After the war, he moved to Portugal, more precisely to the island of Madeira, where he stayed until the end of his life. He became very famous over there, and his watercolors are very expensive on Portuguese auctions houses. At this moment there is a big exhibition of Max Römer going on in Calheta, Portugal More biographical data can be foind on Internet just google the name of the artist. The watercolors are not framed. They all came from a collection of 24 drawings and watercolors sold by the family of Max Romer. If someone is interested in more drawings of Max Romer , or WW1 Romanian folk scenes and landscapes, please let me know. The condition is excellent. The size of 3 watercolors is 20.2 x 13.7 cm, and the size of the 4th watercolor is 25 x 16 cm. The watercolors of Max Romer are selling for 700 to 1300 euro per piece.
