This is a Stanley No. 10 Carriage Maker's Rabbet Wood Plane Now that 2012 is here, I am starting to sell off my complete collection of Stanley planes, along with several hundred other antique tools that I promised my wife I would part with before our next move. Please check the last picture of about 1/3rd of my collection I am selling off to get a flavor for what is upcoming in future listings. Stanley No. 10 Carriage Maker's Rabbet Planes were made from 1869 to 1957. They are a preferred plane used by woodworkers and carpenters to cut a channel or a step along the edge of a board. It is a superb plane to cut smooth, wied rabes in fine hardwoods where more power is needed such as in furniature making or cabinet work. Also used for heavy rabbet work in construction. This Stanley No. 10 Plane is in excellent plus to near mint condition! It is a Type 10 made from 1907 to 1909 with "No 10" on the toe, no patent dates behind the frog, no patent date on the lateral adjustment lever, and correct Type T Stanley logo blade. It is 14 inches long, 2-1/8 inches wide, with a 2-1/8 inch cutter blade. The steel body has rare near 100% superb jappaning and original uncleaned patina on the sides.
