Newsweek magazine from Nov. 13, 1967, featuring a nude Jane Fonda on the cover as Barbarella. Cover story is Anything Goes, about the sixties' Permissive Society. Editor's note reads: Gradually and yet suddenly a startling new atmosphere has arisen in which almost anything seems permissable in the arts, the media, the fashions and customs of our time. Writers openly use language that was only banned a short while ago; movies are nakeder and more outspoken ... the most intimate subjects are openly and directly dealt with in schools, on television and in periodicals. What is behind this remarkable atmosphere of permissiveness? Is it a sign of health or decadence? The article itself covers all the latest examples of "permissiveness" in media and the arts, from the Rolling Stones "Lets spend the night together" to the film I am Curious Yellow. 5 full pages. (Yes, this is the era that Mad Men is now focused on!) Issue also has a lot of color car ads. 126 pages. Very good condition, overall pretty nice, with a bright smooth cover, and just a few minor flaws, a teeny bit of spine tearing at the staples, and very top and very bottom. Back cover also a wee bit frayed on top and bottom edges. Nice pages.
