From Estate in New England: Vintage & gorgeous, classic "Old Hickory" Kitchen Knife Set consisting of four (4) of these American made, carbon steel Knives marked on left blade flats with the famous scimitar logo of the "Tru-Edge" ... "Ontario Knife Co." brand. These vintage Old Hickory blades featured best quality U.S. made carbon steel blades and Hickory hardwood scales of course. These four (4) Kitchen Knives are as follows: *1) Largest of these is a serious Slicer of approx. 12 3/4" OAL with proprietary "patterned" carbon steel blade of about 8" OAL. Long blade has a slight upward arc to the forward section and comes from the factory with a flat ground edge (to mid-point) along the blade length. Straight grained, Hickory hardwood grips are double HD brass riveted to the full tang of the blade as well. Solid as Gibraltar still, this svelte Slicer has taken on a gorgeous silvery gray patina with dark freckling, typical of fine carbon steel over time. T are NO dents, dings, chips, cracks, or other "problems" visible to blade or scales. Edge has not been sharpened in decades, but is still razor sharp on this outstanding Kitchen Slicer from way back when.(See Photos) **2) The next largest of these Knives is an equally desirable Butcher Knife of approx. 11 3/4" OAL which carries a six (6) inch long blade which measures about 1 3/8" wide at the belly under the clipped point. Built exactly as above with full tang double HD riveted to patterned carbon steel blade, this Kitchen favorite shows NO dents, dings, cracks or "problems" either, and has also taken on the gorgeous silvery gray patina with darker freckling typical of fine carbon steel over time. About as good as it gets, this Butcher blade appears to have been little, if ever, actually used in the kitchen and still has a full lifetime of service to offer.(See Photos) ***3) The smaller Slicer shown measures approx. 10 3/8" OAL and has a thin 6" blade of just 5/8" width. Built exactly as above in every respect, this sleek little Slicer handles everything from bread to vegetables when the larger Slicer might seem unweildy. Absolutely gorgeous blade with a stunning, sterling silver patina & very light freckling, this Knife appears to be 99% overall still, though one Hickory grip is a shade darker than the other & has an insignificant hairline crack in upper edge which goes now ... but that's about it! T is NO sign that this svelte Slicer was ever even used, let alone sharpened.(See Photos) **** 4) Last of the Set and always THE Kitchen favorite, is a small parer of about 6 5/8" OAL with 2 7/8" by 3/8" blade of carbon steel showing great patina & no real sign of much use over the years, though the handle shows wear. T are NO cracks, dings, dents, chips or other visible "problems" with this diminutive Paring Knife. A beauty & ready-to-go once again in the kitchen whenever you are.(See Photos) Recently purchased at Estate, these Old Hickory Knives were obviously prized and well cared for over the years prior to our acquisition. Probably produced in the late 1950s or early 1960s, these fine carbon steel blades were certainly among the better U.S. made Kitchen Knives of the post-WWII era and have stood the test of time. Nobody remotely turns out this style and quality anymore either, and these vintage Kitchen Knives are still in about 99.9% overall condition still. Why pay full retail plus tax for "junque" quality, cheapo look-alike Kitchen Knife Set from some Third World sweat shop, when you can have the best from respected Ontario Knife delivered right to your door & ready-to-go for a whole lot less? It's a no-brainer really.
