"Ted" Clifton Jr., now deceased.The photo, depicting Clifton in the foreground, was taken on May 14th, 1965 at the dedication of the Kennedy Memorial at Runnymede in the United Kingdom. Jacqueline Kennedy can be seen in the background, wearing a white dress.Chester V. "Ted" Clifton Jr. (September 24, 1913 - December 23, 1991), was a former Major General in the United States Army and Military Aide to Presidents John F. Kennedy and Lyndon B. Johnson.General Clifton was an integral part of the Kennedy administration and was responsible for daily intelligence briefings for the President. He accompanied JFK to Texas and was riding in the fateful motorcade in Dallas on November 22, 1963 when Kennedy was assassinated.Following the assassination and after leaving Parkland Hospital upon the official announcement of JFK's death, he accompanied the new President Lyndon B. Johnson to Dallas Love Field. He was present in the cabin aboard Air Force One when Johnson was sworn in as the 36th President of the United States.PROVENANCE: This item is from the estate of former U.S.
