SCARCE LINEMAR JAPAN VINTAGE TIN MECHANICAL WIND UP STUNT PLANE NMIB GREAT LITHODescriptionThis 3.25 inch long tin wind up Mechanical Stunt Plane was made in Japan for Linemar and is circa the 1940's -1950's. With a four inch wingspan, this is the first of this wind up toy we have ever seen in years of collecting. Although there are other wind up stunt planes out there, this one seems to predate them all - all tin construction, including the pilots' head, propeller, and wheels.The lithography is terrific and highly detailed, and remains bright and clean. The toy is in great condition with only minor nicks and light scratches from the factory and box storage. The airplane appears to be old stock.The toy works great - travels forward and periodically lifts off the ground, does a somersault, rights itself, and then the action continues.The box art on the original box is fantastic.
