It has a silk warp and silk pile.This particular piece displays a soft cream color field and a cobalt blue central medallion design with many different floral motifs. The cream color field area contains four vases, two on each side, in addition to many different floral motifs. See photos.Signed at the top in the center of the first border BAZAAR 54 , and numbered in the same border 185 . The next border is signed HEREKE on the left and has a Farsi inscription on the right side of the same border. It is likely the signature of the proud weaver or perhaps a date. See photo captions.The pile is not worn and has a lovely soft feel to it. It has a beautiful silvery sheen.The back shows no wear as this rug has been lovingly cared for for many years. No spots or stains. No tears or marks. No odors. The fringe is original and perfect. Excellent condition.Slik rugs are usually not put on the floor, but are used as wall hangings (as this one was) or table covers.I have not counted the knots per square inch (KPSI), but know without a doubt that the knot count is hundreds per square inch. read more
