RARE TEXAS AMMONITES in MATRIX DISPLAY SUPER LOW OPEN, NO RESERVE Very Handsomely Displayed on a Custom Made highly polished Stainless Steel Base, this DESIGNER FOSSIL PIECE would look STUNNING in any Display Case, and on any Mantle, Shelf, or Executive Desk. The Overall Dimensions (includes display stand) are 8-3/4" Wide x 10" Tall. The Calycoceras Tarrantense Ammonites ( named after Tarrant County, Texas ) is a very scarce species sometimes discovered in a small section of Texas. The site w I discovered these two (Tarrant County) has long been bulldozed over to make way for large concrete drainage ditch. That in itself is a true shame, as my brother and I would spend many afternoons digging the creekbed walls that cut through this small exposure. On a good day, we would each find two or three. These are very unique and desirable ammonites, not simply because of their innate rarity, but because their Inner Chambers (in this particular site/location) fossilized with Calcite . They possess extremely well defined ribbing and symmetry, are fully inflated, and sutures are clearly visible.
