I believe these are 1914-1918 period and are private purchase. They are in pristine condition and are a larger size - probably a 10-1/2 or 11(I can squish my large size 12's into them- but just). They are blackened and are closed by three sets of eyelets and four sets of metal hooks on each boot. The upper portion has the post 1916 rivet on each side. The soles have round hobnails and the heels have squared hobnails. The bottom arch has a slight curve to it and the only stamp I can locate is a 43 stamped on the arches. These would be perfect for any mannequin or living history type. I have seen photos of the period with poilu wearing something very similar. Comes with a pair of leather laces.A very solid and beautiful pair of boots in a human size.
