14K NATURAL RUSSIAN ALEXANDRITE & DIAMOND ESTATE RING The very rare Natural Alexandrite since its discovery in Russia in 1831 has been considered one of the most treasured and valuable gemstones. This is an absolutely exquisite Estate Natural Russian Alexandrite and Diamond Ring cast in solid 14K Yellow Gold and is a size 6 3/4. This elegant piece of Alexandrite jewelry has a beautiful oval cut Natural Russian Alexandrite measuring 6.22x4.5mm(.65 points)that is rated Type II clarity VVS. T are also 10 beautiful accenting Diamonds measuring 2.4mm(.05 points)each that are overall SI1 in clarity and overall H in color. The TDW is .50 points(1/2 carat). THE COLOR CHANGING ALEXANDRITE The amazing Natural Alexandrite is the variety of Chrysoberyl that displays a color change. The color changing Alexandrite was discovered on April 23, 1830 in Russia and named in honor of Czarevitch Alexander Nicolajevitch who would become Czar in 1855 and would reign from 1855-1881. At that time all people even including the Royals used torchlight, candlelight and open fireplaces as t was no electricity at this time. To make this amazing gemstone even more popular, the Alexandrite's colors of red and green were Russia's National Military Colors. Due to the wave lengths of the torch, candle and fireplace lighting, during that period of time the Alexandrites displayed rich colors of emerald green to a deep red violet of a ruby.
