From the Mid-1700s through about 1830 there was a worldwide shortage of coins, thus the coins of Britain, Spain, Ireland [Hibernia], and The Netherlands were used as currency in Colonial America, along with a fascinating variety of coins issued by private enterprises, these are known as "PENNY CONDERS."......Up for bids is a 1775 KING GEORGE 3rd "BRITTANIA" coin....... an interesting piece !!!
