1776Delaware 6 Shillings Note Choice Uncirculated 64 EPQ These notes were engraved and printed by James Adams. The thick paper containing blue threads and mica flakes is the same paper that was used for Continental Currency. This note has been authenticated, graded Choice Uncirculated 64 with Exceptional Paper Quality by Paper Money Guaranty and encapsulated in a tamper evident holder. The signatures are excellent and this note is signed by the following prominent Colonial Delaware leaders (one from each county): 1. John McKinly (New Castle County) Born in Ireland in 1721. Moved to Wilmington, Delaware and established a successful medical practice. Held many important posts and positions in Colonial Delaware, serving as Sheriff, Chief Burgess of Wilmington, Assembly member, and a member of the Committee of Correspondence. He also played an active role in the militia. On February 21, 1777 he was chosen as Commander in Chief and President (Governor) of Delaware. After the British were victorious at the Battle of Brandywine, General Howe sent several brigades of troops to occupy nearby Wilmington. In the early morning hours of September 13, 1777, President McKinly was taken prisoner by these troops.
