17th century Spanish colonial era cup hilt rapier. Good condition. Patina commensurate with age. Patches of light rust. The sword is solid with no blade play between handle and cup. There is the number 12 inscribed inside the cup. Original wood grip. Obvious signs of use in combat. Blade strikes evident on cup and knuckle guard. Blade edge to blade edge contact halfway up blade. Period reedging just above cup likely to edge to edge contacts. Mearurements: Pomel to tip 33 1/2" Widest point 9 1/8" Fuller from cup 9 1/2" Blade width at cup 1 1/2" Blade length 27 3/4" Cup diameter 4 1/2" A marvelous piece of history.
