1837-59 SAG HARBOR, NEW YORK - HANDWRITTEN SHIP DOCUMENT LOT Interesting lot of appx. (22) handwritten receipts, signed bills, primarily 1837-1840s, with a few from the 1850s. They were primarily sent to either William H. Nelson or William H. Loper. Mixed content with the vast majority related to ships or shipping (lime, coal, scantling, etc.) A number of ship names are noted -- Sloop Superior, Sloop Van Buren; Schooner Mary Ann; Schooner O. F. Hawley, etc; as well as Captains (some with signatures) - Capt. Giles Harris;Capt. N[athan] Fordham; Capt. Wallace, and more. Of interest: 1838 Statement of J. Blanchard noting profit of Bone and Sp.[erm] Oil, 8" x 4" 1847 Bill, signed Howes Crowell - "Leathering Boxes & Spear; Spun Yarn Reels..." etc. 1844 Bill, 1 1/2pp. legal, Douglas & Wade...long ledger list of hardware items, incl. locks, screws, glass.
