Rare piece of Arizona Territory Apache / Indian Wars ephemera. Invitation to the Grand Opening of the Huachuca Hotel at Fort Huachuca during the time when the fort played a major role in the war against the Apaches and the surrender of Geronimo. It measures 4 1/2" x 6 3/4". It is printed on thin paper. It was removed from a scrap book and there is a bit of paper adhered to the back. It is in otherwise very good condition. Guaranteed original 1884 document as described. This is part of the B.A. Fickas collection of Tombstone and Arizona Territory photos, documents and ephemera that I will be listing over the next few weeks. B.A. Fickas was a prominent figure in Tombstone and Territorial Arizona as an entrepreneur, businessman, newspaperman and public servant. He relocated from San Diego to Tombstone, AT in 1878. He ran for mayor of Tombstone in January of 1880 and was narrowly defeated. While in Tombstone he served as a member of the Eleventh Territorial Legislature, where he was instrumental in the formation of Cochise County and as Clerk of the Cochise County District Court. He was the first Grand Chancellor of the Knights of Pythias of Arizona and served as Commander of Tombstone's Burnside Post, Grand Army of the Republic in 1882.
