18th Century Honore Savy Marseille Hand Painted French Faience Scenic TeapotRare 18th Century faience teapot. Hand painted with scenes on both sides of people, buildings, and a lake framed in blue scrollwork. With blue ribbons wrapped around pink poles and small pink, blue, and yellow flowers in between and on the handle and spout. Has a pink and yellow pear finial on the lid. Has a blue fleur de lis mark on the base used by Honore Savy in Marseille between 1725 and 1790. Based on the form of this pot, I would date it no later then the 1750sThere is an old chip to the spout with a small piece broken and glued back in. Also has crazing lines typical of tin glazed ceramics. No additional chips or cracks.Measures approximately 7 3/4 inches wide from spout to handle x 4 3/4 inches tall to the top of the lid finial.This is an antique and may have small in manufacture defects that do not effect the display-ability of the piece.JR...
