Wonderful little notebook, pencil and chatelaine suspension clip and chain. This is probably the best 1904 Fair notebook Joe had in his collection. It is aluminum with high relief repousse images of a lovely art nouveau woman's face superimposed over butterfly wings, her flowing hair turning into tendriling vines terminating in flower blossoms. The reverse has a background of a shagreen-style pattern(treated sharkskin leather that looked like little tiny pebbles) with an embossed relief motif of what I believe are poppy flower seed heads with the stalk forming a wonderful whiplash cartouche with the letters fitted into the curve of the space, not just in a straight line. The pattern of the ladies head is so high relief that their are two breaks in the hair, one above left eyebrow and one at crown of head. Maximize pictures to see more clearly. T are also faint gilt highlights to face, poppy flowers, lettering and poppy pods. Worlds Fair St. Louis, MO 1904 Next is a little red pencil with a fitted ball end. The point is still sharpened!!! The notepad has RED stained edges. All the sheets seem to be accounted for, about 10-12 have notes regarding the fair. I didn't transcribe them, because I didn't want to touch the paper too much. T is a 24 link chain connected thewonderful stamped aluminum chatelaine in shape of bearded iris in full read more
