1908 SCOTT #344 SCHERMACK TYPE III with CONTROL PERFIN 16 HOLE EXPERIMENTALControl Perfins were used to identify the user and discourage employee theft of postage stamps. By removing a combination of pins from the basic hole pattern each pattern became unique to the owner of the Schermack mailing machine.This is pattern is believed to be the 16 hole experimental pattern of Schermack Company. No known commercial user. Several of these are listed on Ebay in excess of $100.Earliest usage of Schermacks with Control Perfins began late in 1909 and had a very short life span. This is a very interesting sub set to collect, as the total number of different patterns is relatively easy to wrap your head around.Shipping in the US $1.00. Combine other items at 25 cents each.
