1915 RevMex. Mexico City "Zapatista" 2 Centavo. GB#257. Scarce. Well struck example of the small Two Centavo struck at the Mexico City mint during the period of a few months that the forces of Zapata occupied the city in 1915. Choice specimen with irridescent surfaces. Ex Joe Flores. Thanks for looking! This coin is from a large collection put together over many years and was acquired by and authenticated by Joe Flores. We will be offering coins from this collection in the weeks/months to come. Joe Flores is a well known researcher, author and collector of Mexican Revolutionary Coinage. Co-Founder and Director of the U.S. Mexican Numismatic Association. He was the co-author, in 1988, with C. Woody Woodworth - of "La Ventana - The Window to the Revolutionary Coinage of Oaxaca 1915". He has been a continuing contributor to Krause Publications Standard Catalogs. In 2003 he contributed the majority of the coinage put on display by the American Numismatic Association's Money Museum Exhibit "!Viva La Revolution!" and co-authored - with Don Bailey - the book based on this display and with the same title.
