The maps are printed on delicate Japon paper and are in good condition. The 22 pages of advertisements at end are truly fascinating; apparently some hot spots were the Astor House hotel in Shanghai and the Grand Hotel de Pekin in Peking, and the Bridge House Hotel in Nanking. The binding comes in green cloth/fabric with the title in black on the front board and is somewhat faded. The back hinge is a little tender but is holding. Internally the guide is in excellent condition with very little foxing present. The guide measures 18 x 13 cm. This Thomas Cook Guide Book to China and Korea comes from a very different era from our own and opens a window on a China and Korea that is long gone. The book details life in Shanghai, Peking, Northern China, Manchuria, Korea and the Yangtze Valley.OCLC Accession No. read more
