For sale is an Old Vintage 1950s IITTALA Finland TIMO SARPANEVA DEVIL'S CRADLE Art Glass BOWL . This is a Very Rare and Large piece of iittala called the "Devil's Cradle" or "hiidenkehto" in Finnish. Also known as "pothole" dish because of the two holes. Designed by Timo Sarpaneva and produced between circa 1952 - 1960. The item measures 10 1/4 inches in length, about 8 1/2 inches in width, and just under 2 inches in height (26 cm by just under 22 cm by 4.75 cm). The Glass has a wonderful frosted finish. Photos were also taken in Natural Light to show the beautiful and sculptural quality of the glass. The edge is Signed in Block Letters "Timo Sarpaneva- Iittala" (see photos). It is an absolutely fantastic Mid Century Modern Iittala bowl ! The bowl is Very Heavy and weighs 2.8 kilograms (about 6.1 pounds). The Underside of the base has a scratch (see photos- as expected, from being moved on a table. This is a minor issue.) There is what appears to be a small bit of paint on one side (this can be seen in Photo 3. It is probably house paint and I have not tried to remove it). Otherwise, It is in Great Condition- there are no chips, cracks, or any other condition issues or damage. Please View the Photos. This would be a great addition to a collection and I'm listing it with No Reserve - Any White or Dark Spots in the Photos
