Up for auction is a very early Victorian era Sterling Silver Match Safe dating from the 1800's. It is made of solid Sterling Silver and has wonderful hand done Repousse work and design. This match safe is an amazing find and features an amazing design with flowers and other design work. This match safe is marked on the lower right corner "Sterling" on bothsides. The top is hinged and is in excellent tight condition. The item measures approx. 2 7/16 inches tall when closed and 1 1/4 inches wide. Amazing detail and craftsmanship on this item with a very nice original patina. It also is in great shape with no major dents, no cracks, no repairs and no major wear to speak of. The safe closes perfectly and the hinge is in great original tight condition. The striker is located on the lower part of the match safe and is on bothsides. It also has initials on one side what appear to be "KG" but could be something else, see photos below. This is by far one of the coolest match safes I have ever seen! This was recently purchased out of a 120 year estate of along time collector. It has been safely stored away since the 1930's and preserved in its original shape and quality.
