This is an interesting document in modest condition announcing the appointment of Issac Pierson as Justice of the Peace in Mercer County, Kentucky in 1833. It is headlined with the name of the Governor of Kentucky, John Breathitt, and signed by him in ink in the bottom righthand corner. The official seal of the state of Kentucky has been applied to the document on the bottom right hand corner. An attestation to the qualifications of Mr Pierson is given on the back by Justice Waugh, a member of the presiding Justices of Mercer County. The document is largely intact with minor paper loss in the lower left hand corner and at the top margin. T is also soil at the top margin. The document has been strengthened by the addition of tape in some cases archival quality and in some cases not. The overall appearance is less than the best but the state seal and Breathitt's signature are very good. The document measures 9 3/8" x 8".
