June 30, 2014 was a banner day for Astros right fielder George Spring. That morning, copies of Sports Illustrated hit the newsstands featuring a cover story on the Houston star. Then, later that day, he faced Seattle for a home game where he went 1 for 3, including a 1st inning solo home run off Taijuan Walker. According to Resolution Photomatching, Springer not only used this bat for the home run in the June 30 game, but he also used it the following game on July 1. In the bottom of the 1st of that game, Houston was already down 2-0, but a pair of singles seemed to spark an Astros rally. With 2 on, Springer came to bat against Hisashi Iwakuma. With the count 1 and 1, Springer hit a grounder to 3rd, resulting in a broken bat and a fielder's choice out at second. Springer later scored on a single to get a Houston run on the board. He would go 1 for 4 in the eventual 13-2 loss to Seattle. Springer's Chandler GS4 model bat from that 1st inning at bat shows good game use with a handle crack. There are several ball marks and scuffs on the barrel and the handle has a light coat of pine tar. The knob has a Schutte sticker with Springer's number "4." This bat comes with MLB Authenticated hologram (EK887985) for the game use and a LOA from Resolution Photomatching for the two previously mentioned games.
