Here we have a 1/32 Monogram Ferrari 250 GTO with a Monogram brass pan chassis and a Monogram red Mabuchi can motor. Car is in very clean condition and features some detailing such as panel lines darkened, tail light lenses painted clear red and other trim picked out in chrome silver, all parts appear to be present including windshield with wiper molded in, headlight lenses, detailed wire wheels with knockoffs, slightly chipped decals. Pilot figured is paint detailed very nicely. Chassis is very clean and looks quite stock out of the box including what are probably the original tires in decent shape...fine for shelf sitting but not so much for actually racing. Very nice example of slot car state of the art circa 1964 (says so molded into inside of body shell. The car it looks ready to race but cannot guarantee that as I have not had a track to test it on. Getting rare in this condition! I am honored to be presenting my long time friend Rick's extensive slot car collection exclusively on ebay. Rick recently passed away after a brave fight with cancer. Rick was not only a friendly, happy and family oriented man, he was also an artist on a lot of levels. One of those levels was building slot cars. He had a collection of nearly a hundred that I know of so far, and all have had his artistic touch applied to them. Look at the photos and you will see what I mean. Realistically painted pilot figures, interiors, weathering, alumninum tubing exhaust systems, and to top it off, Ricks own eyecatching color and graphic schemes. Each item is an individual piece of art, art that he labored many hours over, but always with a smile on his face. There are some comic touches in some of the cars, but most depict real or potentially real race cars and have the added advantage that what Rick liked to do SECOND most with these cars was soup them up and make them haul azz! We both shared a philosophy of "lighten and lower" and that is reflected in these cars sometimes to an extreme! Most have been customized either in appearance or tuning or both. Please also note that some of the cars may not be in completely finished condition, most commonly the chassis is not fastened to the body, or the windscreen is not glued to the body or similar minor inconveniences, so plan on maybe a bit of time being invested before you can actually race some of these cars. Many of these cars have been converted from static 1/32 scale models, many times with period-correct vintage chassis, motor and running gear, but occasionally updated to modern spec. Some have extensive body work on them to bring them from the stock appearance of the original kit to a race or rally motif. Many have silicone tires but that is generally their own deviation from a life-like appearance and oftentimes Rick would sacrifice performance for looking "right" as many of these cars never really saw track time: they were imagined and built to be on display, and contain minute and delicate details that may or may not be obvious in the photographs. All of the proceeds from these auctions will be going directly to Rick's wife so please bid generously...you will be rewarded with a marvelous piece of automobile art, to proudly display or race. I guarantee you you will not find slot cars like these anywhere else, they are all one-of-a-kind to one degree or another.
