DESCRIPTION Hanging Scroll: ABE NO SEIMEI Abe no Seimei (921-1005) was an onmyoji, a leading specialist of onmyodo during the middle of the Heian Period. In addition to his prominence in history, he is a legendary figure in Japanese folklore and has been portrayed in a number of stories and films. Artist Unreadable Dated Year 1902 Length 118.5 cm (about 46 inches) Width (between both roller ends) 45.8 cm (about 18 inches) Material of the Roller Ends Wood Primary Material of the Mounting Cloth Condition FAIR , with stains & wear, WOODBLOCK-PRINTED on paper Grading System for Hanging Scrolls EXCELLENT : The hanging scroll itself is in brand new condition or shows little signs of having been hung. VERY GOOD : The hanging scroll has been hung some times, and might have slight stains and/or wear, which is acceptable. GOOD : The hanging scroll has been hung so much that it suffers from normal stains, wear, creasing, discoloration, etc. GOOD- (minus) : The hanging scroll has not been cared for properly and it will be torn, stained and/or defaced.
