It is my pleasure to present this collection of 7 plates from Spode Copeland of England. These are 7 of 12 plates from a set made by Spode for the J.L Hudson Company in the 1930's as noted on the reverse of each plate along with the Spode Copeland makers mark. Each plate displays a milestone or "first" for Michigan or the Detroit MI area. The plates included are: Detroits First Baseball Park Detroits First Post Office Detroits First Public School Early Detroit Toll Gate Birthplace Of Ford Motor Car Michigans First Theater Michigans First Capital The pictures do not do these pieces justice and we apologize for the glare in the pictures. Each plate has an individual picture shown along with the backside views of a couple plates. The first 5 plates listed above are in MINT condition with no flaws or defects of any kind. The last two plates listed have some minor crazing of the glaze, but no cracks, chips, or other flaws to note. The plates each measure 10-1/2" in diameter and the graphics are crisp and vivid with extremely fine detailing. The plates were designed and signed (in the top portion of the border) by the artist; William Ogg Fitzgerald who was brought over to England from the USA to create the designs for each plate. These are very difficult to find and seldom in this prestine condition. Insurance is required.More information read more
