Anguganak Currency Armband Woven grass armband with kwalia (conus) shell and ovum cowrie currency. Worn at ceremonies and rituals and used for bride price, compensation and land payments. Anguganak, West Sepik.The armband is 3.25" high, 5" wide and 2" deep and stands 9.75" on a custom display stand. Collected by my ex-carpenter, Paul Sibu, on a trip home in 2006.Lesley Martin has been importing art from Papua New Guinea for 26 years. Lesley was born and raised in Wewak on the Sepik Coast.
