This antique ledger was converted to a recipe book and is now an incredible time capsule of early 1900s cooking. There is no name or date written inside (possibly because the lowest page number is 7) or on the clippings. Because of the style of the ledger and earliest recipes written with fountain pen, I think it dates around the early 1900s or late 1800s. Some of the newspaper clippings not glued down seem to date around the 1920s or 1930s. The Ball advertisement and lard booklet likely date a bit later.I have counted approximately 20 double-sided pages with handwritten recipes, 7 with clippings, and 80 that are blank, plus the loose clippings. Recipes are written in different ink color (or pencil) and handwriting; some recipes appear to have been given by friends. The owner clipped out recipes from newspapers, magazines, and packaging, including some with pictures in color. Please read the condition description carefully and note that I could not fully remove what appears to be black mold.
