Antique 19c Victorian Walnut Writing Slope Box Dimensions 15.5" wide x 9 3/4" deep x 9" tall approx A very nice writing slope box with burr walnut front and figured fiddleback grained top, inlayed brass corners ,straps ,escutcheon and cartouche, Good hinges and a working lock with key. (lockable), The interior has sloped writing surface with 1 piece leather skiver covering,which forms 2 opening slopes/lids to storage compartments beneath,(see photo7) ,there are compartments in a line at the top of slope comprising; 2 spaces for inkwells,a stamp slope and a dished pen tray/lid which lifts out ,Underneath these compartments are 2 'secret' or hidden drawers concealed behind a spring locked cover panel (photo8). The box is in good condition,tidy and presentable ,minor/minimal age wear ,NO missing veneer ,there is a hairline in the veneer on lid, this doesnt travel through the thickness of the lid.
