We bought it from one of our workers while rebuilding the Siem Reap airport ( Angkor Wat ) in Cambodia in 1999. It comes from Angkor wat or Bayon temple area. The image is in good condition. Some age signs but no damages. It stands 6 inches tall by 3 inches wide. This statue with a superb deep patina in green and blue oxidation completes every Asian collection. Die Bronze wurde im traditionellen Verfahren der verlorenen Form hergestellt. Die Technik der "verlorenen Form" ist seit der Renaissance bekannt und im Laufe der Zeit immer wieder verfeinert worden. Den Namen erhielt diese antike Technik aufgrund der Tatsache, dass die Form bei jedem Abguß zerstört wird und jedesmal ein neues Wachsmodell (Wachsausschmelzverfahren) und eine neue Gußform aus Schamotte angefertigt werden muß. Nach dem Guß bei über 1350 °C erfolgen aufwändige Nachbearbeitungen (entgraten, ziselieren, polieren, ggf. patinieren und wieder polieren). Jede Bronzegießerei hat ihre eigenen, zum Teil seit Jahrhunderten gehüteten geheimen Rezepturen, die Bronze aus den spezifischen Zutaten zu legieren und zu gießen. Am Künstler wiederum ist es, die Patina von Hand aufzubringen und die Skulptur zu polieren. Ein Buddha ist ein Wesen, welches aus eigener Kraft die Reinheit und Vollkommenheit seines Geistes erlangt hat und somit eine grenzenlose Entfaltung aller ,,seiner" Potentiale erlangt hat: vollkommene Weisheit und unendliches Mitgefühl. Er ist ins Nirvana eingetreten. Von ,,seinem" Geist kann man eigentlich gar nicht sprechen, denn diese Erlangung ist von transzendenter Natur, mit dem Verstand nicht zu erfassen, ,,tief und unergründlich, wie der Ozean". Aufgrund des höchst individuellen Charakters dieser Erfahrung entzieht sich diese einer wissenschaftlichen Prüfung. Die Qualität der Buddha-Erfahrung ist für Menschen, die diese Erfahrung nicht selbst gemacht haben, nicht nachzuvollziehen.
