Interesting antique rowing tankard trophy. It is inscribed Cheltenham College, Scratch Fours 1873, Winning Crew, Bow - Calvert, Trin. Hall 2. Fenn 1st Trin. 3. Lowe Lady Mary. Stroke G. Butler 1st Trin. The tankard stands approx. 7 inches high and holds just a bit more than an imperial quart . It has a clear glass base which measures just under 5 inches across. Inscribed on the base is the name James Dixon & Sons. and the number 482. The tankard is in reasonable condition but the silver plate is very worn in places. Reckon there is a Cambridge connection here but unsure exactly what. Happy to answer any questions about this item.
