~*~Hello and thank you for looking~ ~*~Simply wonderful ~*~ This lovely piece is the top half of a Vichy Check , 18th century bed curtain . It dates from the mid to late 1700's. ~Vichy is an area of Paris that produced this gorgeous fabric , that became known as Vichy check ~ This textile was found in the loft of a large 17th century house in central France and is a wonderful textile find. Faded to perfection~ this panel has faded unevenly with time where it would have been exposed to sunlight. This textile has the original linen tape at the top and the panel has been gathered and pleated at the top. The bottom has been cut and is not hemmed. The fabric near the bottom has BEAUTIFULLY faded in a wonderful mottled pattern. The fabric is a light weight cotton. Indigo blue would have been used to dye the threads before weaving. This textile is made by hand stitching 2 panels of the wonderful Vichy together. A more narrow panel was hand stitched to the left to extend the width. ~ Ideal for any period interior, gorgeous for any textile collection. This 16A ) MEASUREMENTS : This wonderful textile measures 39 inches long ( 3.25 feet long ) on one side and 44 inches long on the other ( there was a small section removed from the bottom of one side. It is 54 inches wide at the bottom and the top , where gathered measures 14 inches wide. read more
