Antique French Haviland Limoges Scalloped Oyster Plate with Shells and SeaweedDescription Antique French Haviland Limoges Scalloped Oyster Plate with Shells & SeaweedThe hand painting on this antique French oyster plate is exceptional. There are sea shells and tendrils of seaweed along the border and between the wells. Five wells and a center well are in shaded blush pink, a really beautiful coloration. The tone in the wells complements the teals, browns, and touches of rose in the seaweed and shell decoration. This oyster plate has a very handsome mold with soft scalloping along the edges punctuated by notches. The mold for this Haviland oyster plate is pictured on page 79 of the reference book, "Oyster Plates", by Karsnitz; the oyster plate in the book has the same shell pink wells, but a variation on the hand painting. On the reverse is "Haviland France" in green. The diameter of the plate is 9 inches.
