is a triple plated bowl with a top and a hole in the middle, then it has a dome top with a finial. It is 6" in diameter, 5 1/4" high. This This apparently is a covered butter. In Victorian times butter was placed on ice and the water run off went down the hole. That is what I have been told. Please email me if you have the name of this piece. It is marked J. W. Tufts - Triple Plated, 2CC3.The top fit fine but is a little out of round. Please check the calculator for shipping.
